Message of Solidarity to Pan-S.Korea Solution Committee Against US Base Extension in Pyeongtaek
August 25, 2006
VFP is a non-profit, national organization of U.S. veterans who work for peace, non-interference in other countries, abolition of nuclear weapons, and justice for veterans and victims of war.
We believe in resolving conflicts in non-violent ways.
Established in 1985, and has about 100 local chapters.
We extend our warm solidarity and support to the courageous Korean farmers and their defenders in Pyeongtaek who are justly resisting the US military expansion there. The relocation of US forces to Peongtaek is not only unnecessary but also a waste of our tax money for both the Korean and American people.
Removal of U.S. troops from South Korea, after more than 60 years of presence there, is long overdue. Enough is enough! We call upon the U.S. government to shut down its 100 military bases in South Korea and bring our troops home now!
To show our solidarity with the struggling farmers in Pyeongtaek and investigate the situation there, we intend to send a delegation of our members to South Korea in the near future.
In Solidarity,
